In 2016, sales of the globally leading healthcare service provider grew organically by 5 percent to €1.16 billion, while operating profit (EBIT) amounted to €69 million, up 8 percent against the previous period.

Dr. Ernst Wastler, CEO of VAMED AG: “In 2016, VAMED recorded particularly brisk sales. As an international healthcare provider, VAMED plans and builds modern and integrated healthcare facilities and operates these over their entire lifecycle. Our complete range of services, unique in the industry, has won VAMED contracts in preventive medicine, acute care, and rehabilitation. This means we can ensure efficient healthcare that meets highest quality standards - worldwide.”

In 2016, VAMED was awarded the contract for the renovation and expansion of the University Hospital St. Poelten. The order volume amounts to €189 million, and 380 beds for inpatients, 85 day-care beds, as well as nine operating rooms will be completed by 2022. In Vienna, VAMED will build radiation therapy facilities for the treatment of cancer patients at the Hietzing Hospital and the Socio-Medical Center East to meet increasing demand, and assume operational management for 15 and 25 years, respectively.

Together with our partner, the Provincial Hospitals Salzburg operating company, VAMED was awarded a contract for a child rehabilitation facility in St. Veit/Pongau. With 82 beds, this will be Austria’s first family-oriented center for the rehabilitation of children and youngsters after cancer and metabolic disorders. VAMED is Austria’s leading private provider of rehabilitation services and currently operates 15 facilities in Austria, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.

Successful completion of Charité Berlin - entry into the British rehabilitation market

The successful extension and renovation of Germany's largest university hospital, Charité Berlin, without exceeding costs or deadlines (project volume: €175m, completion in Nov. 2016), was VAMED’s most important international reference project last year. In Great Britain, VAMED’s acquisition of an interest in the British rehabilitation clinics operator Circle Health (London) marks the company’s entry into that market in Britain.

In addition, VAMED is also intensifying medical research activities. In Gars am Kamp, where VAMED Vitality World has operated la pura women's health resort kamptal since 2011, Austria's first health resort with an exclusive focus on women's needs, VAMED founded the Research Institute for Gender Medicine together with  Medical University of Vienna.
